Communication and Media Arts High School

We are a small high school with a distinguished record of academic rigor and for producing students who excel in media arts careers. At CMA, we are preparing students to become college and career ready. CMA offers rigorous academic courses, athletics, clubs, student leadership, and numerous experiences to ensure our students are fully prepared to advance towards their post-secondary goals.

Crockett Midtown High School of Science and Medicine

At Crockett Midtown High School of Science and Medicine, we are preparing students to become career and college-ready. Davis Aerospace Technical High School

Davis Aerospace Technical High School prepares students to enter the world of Aviation. All students have access to Aviation classes and the opportunity to join our Flight Training Program. Students are prepared to test for their remote pilot's certificate and can join the fast-growing career sector of Commercial Drone Piloting. Students will also be able to train in one of our state-of-the-art simulators and have the possibility of piloting a real aircraft.

DIA is a selective school within the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5.

Detroit School of Arts is an esteemed institution nestled in the thriving heart of Midtown Detroit. With a legacy of excellence spanning decades, we've cultivated a reputation as a beacon of artistic innovation and academic success. Our award-winning programs span a spectrum of disciplines, from visual arts to music, theater, dance, and beyond. This application is for admission in Fall 2026. 

Application Requirements

Detroit School of Arts requires an audition. Applicants will be required to upload transcripts and/or report cards and, sign up for an audition or, if applicable, upload an audition file. You will need to provide the email address for two references: One artistic reference and one academic reference. The academic criteria are as follows:  

A GPA of 2.5 is required for students entering 9th grade. 

A GPA of 3.0 is preferred for students entering grades 10-12.

An interview may requested for some students entering grades 10-12. 

Audition Required

Students applying for all disciplines are required to attend an in-person audition. There is a link to sign up for an audition date and timeslot in the application confirmation email you receive after submitting.  The final audition date for Round 2 will be on March 17.

There are two additional exam high school applications: one for current 8th grade students who will begin high school in Fall 2026, and another for students already enrolled in a DPSCD exam high school who wish to transfer to a different exam high school. • The Middle School Arts Conservatories require applicants to audition as part of the admissions process.

• One reference is required. Applicants must provide the name and email address of the person who will serve as their reference. A letter of recommendation is not required as part of the application.
