Communication and Media Arts High School

We are a small high school with a distinguished record of academic rigor and for producing students who excel in media arts careers. At CMA, we are preparing students to become college and career ready. CMA offers rigorous academic courses, athletics, clubs, student leadership, and numerous experiences to ensure our students are fully prepared to advance towards their post-secondary goals. 

Updates

The new school year will begin on Monday, August 24, 2026, and seats are limited in all grades. For the highest chance of admission and to expedite our ability to get you enrolled, if admitted, please apply as soon as possible. We will do our best to process your application within 1 week.

Application Requirements  

  • Two years of Transcripts or School Report Cards.
  • Standardized Test Scores.
  • One Letter of Recommendation
  • Two additional references (contact information)
  • All deadlines are final, including application and enrollment deadlines.
  • Please review the application carefully before submitting it. You may save the application in progress and return to make as many changes as necessary prior to submitting it. 
  • Do not submit more than one application to CMA for the same student. You may email application.schools@detroitk12.org or use Submittable to send a message to the Admissions Teams to request the opportunity to edit or update your application.

Welcome!

Clippert, located in the heart of Southwest Detroit, offers a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum for grades 6-8 to prepare students for entry to the city’s elite high schools. Free transportation is provided for students who live near Bennett, Harms and Roberto Clemente elementary schools.

Admission Requirements

All students should have a “C” or better average in core academic classes, maintain a 2.5 grade point average, attend school regularly and demonstrate excellent-to-satisfactory citizenship. 

Guidelines For All Applicants

  • A copy of your student’s most recent report card must be submitted with this application. The report card should be from no earlier than the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Do not submit more than one application for the same scholar. You may email application.schools@detroitk12.org or use Submittable to send a message to the Admissions Team to request the opportunity to edit or update your application. 
  • You may save the application in progress and return to make as many changes as necessary prior to submitting it. Please review the application carefully before submitting. 
  • Applications are accepted online during the application window. Alternately, a paper application packet may be submitted at the school during regular business hours. You will be notified of the admission decision by phone or email. The paper application is also available in Spanish.
